"Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labour in vain."
Psalm 127:1
Following the morning worship service on Sunday, August 8, 2010, we will gather at the Pavilion in the group campsite at Wolf Creek Camp Ground for our annual baptism and picnic.
We will provide the hamburgers, hot dogs, lemonade and condiments. You can bring a salad or side dish to share ... and something for dessert. Baptisms will be done in the cool waters of Little River as the faithful look on.
Encourage each other and be blessed as we watch God's people take a step of obedience and declare their faith in Jesus Christ.
The Wolf Creek is up Little River Road, past the Job Corps. If you have questions, or need directions, feel free to contact us.
Thank You for a wonderful time of worship, food, fun and games on Sunday, July 4th, 2010. We all got to experience what it means to be truly free in Jesus Christ.
The theme for this year's event was: In Dependence on Christ!
The event began with a Community Worship Service at the Glide Middle School Field. There was praise and worship music and a message from Mike Miller, pastor of Glide Baptist Church.
Beginning at 5:30 p.m. there were games, food, Christian music, bounce houses and water games for the kids and plenty of fun for everyone.
This year, the headline act on stage was Darrell Mansfield. Look him up on YouTube if you missed out. He rocked the valley. After the music concluded late in the evening, there was a brief gospel message followed by an awesome fireworks show.
Like the gospel itself, everything at this event was absolutely free.
We want to thank everyone who helped out and everyone who came out. We are confident that God used this occasion to draw hearts and minds to Himself. The glory belongs to the Lord. We hope and pray that each of you was blessed through this event.
April 23 – 25, the women of NUBF gathered in Redmond Oregon at Eagle Crest Resort. The leadership team had been praying, planning and working for months to prepare and we were excited. We knew God had something special for us. However, all good things don’t come easy. We were challenged right from the beginning.
Due to circumstances beyond our control, the leadership team arrived late. There wasn’t enough time to prepare for the thirty women who’d be arriving within the hour, and our blissful weekend was threatened by a number of obstacles. Ephesians 6:12 says, “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.”
We had a battle to fight, so we prayed. God came to our defense. He had a work to do and wasn’t about to be stopped. Praise Him!
Darlene, our fearless leader rolled up her sleeves and went to work. Soon the women were settled in their condos and we shared a tasty meal together, and then gathered for worship. It was uplifting and fun. Our hearts were ready to hear from our speakers.
Sherrie Ashcraft and Christina Berry, a mother/daughter duo had a lot to share with us. We began with a bit of fun. Sherrie explained that she and Christina had forgotten the name of our church, they had only the initials—NUBF. In lighthearted fun as they drove over from Gaston, they played with the initials and came up with some interesting titles. Here are some of their guesses—Newly Ugly Bodacious Females. They hoped that wasn’t it. Never Ugly Best Friends was another guess, but not likely. They were really digging deep when they came up with Nifty Underwear Beats Fungus. Ewww. And last but not least, Nude Useless Breasts Fall . . . Well you had to be there. :-]
Sherrie is full of fun and humor. She explained her witticisms just fall out of her mouth. She has no control over them. That’s okay. We loved them.
The mother/daughter team had a lot to share with us over the weekend. They opened their hearts and their lives. We were the beneficiaries of what God had taught them through some painful circumstances and hard-earned victories.
Sherrie and Christina learned to tame their emotions (most of the time), and openly shared their journeys through worry, fear, depression, pain and anger. They also discovered there can be joy, thankfulness and contentment in the midst of the storm. They prayed with us, shared their knowledge with us and were a great encouragement.
There was also plenty of time for fun. Gals went shopping, swimming and bike riding. Others made trips to Bend and Sisters. Some hit the garage sales while a few stayed closer to home and discovered how to make jewelry. And then there were also the hot-tubbers.
I love retreats, not just because it’s a weekend away. Not just because I get to hang out with other women and talk about almost anything. Not just because of the fun. The reason I love retreats is because I see God happenings everywhere. Women pray together, some cry together and laugh together. Hearts and minds are changed. I love women’s retreats because God meets us there. He’s a big God who does big things.
We’re already making plans for next year. So, be watching for news.
Regular office hours are 9-5 Tuesday and Wednesday. 9-4 on Thursday.
